We are delighted to announce that the globally respected Faculty of Pre Hospital Care of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh), the Gold Standard in the sectors we serve, has formally endorsed our unique 5 day R/EMO:TE Medic Course, our entry level foundation course, following a very robust, independent assessment process following a 12-18 month journey to bring gold standard endorsement to what we believe is the most up to date; fit for purpose foundation level remote area medical course available, anywhere.
A tried and tested course, with rave reviews, over years.
Importantly; whilst a stand alone course, this course has progression to a suite of other continuation modules, delivered by us including already endorsed or accredited modules by respected bodies (see below), to provide a robust, high quality route to study remote area medicine in advance of deployment, (theory, skills, scenarios and high fidelity ‘in the environment’ simulations), when funds and time allow, across a a 3 month period or 2 year period, whatever suits you.

This programme, in total is 16 days and c380 hours study.

Professional level remote area medical training delivered by us at our International Centre for Remote Area Risk And Medicine, based at the National Outdoor Centre, Plas y Brenin, Wales, UK.
The 5 day R/EMO:TE Medic course note is a professional level, fit for purpose course. It does not cover outdoor disciplines such as navigation, water rescue, rope work etc . It is a professional level course. These additional subjects require days each to cover the basics.
For that very reason, we developed an additional programme - the Remote/ Expedition Medic Core Skills course with the National Outdoor Centre - Plas y Brenin. This programme provides recognised training of suitable duration - and certification in navigation, water safety, rope work and expedition skills while also incorporating our whole R/EMO:TE Medic programme on the medical side.
A full programme to prepare medics on both the medical and medical condition skill side.
Our 5 day entry level course, along with all of our courses, have high instructor: delegate ratios to ensure high quality, small student groups . The focus is on quality learning, replicable skills and embedding knowkefge - what we are renowned for. Taught by medics and subject matter experts with experience on every continent, every environment and with Diplomas in Mountain medicine to exped, altitude, Travel health and Tropical Medicine, HEMS, military and real world Prolonged Field Care experience.
The 5 day Foundation course is medical focused rather than trauma, but runs immediately after our (pre requisite) unique delivery of the internationally recognised (c.80 countries) Pre Hospital Trauma Life Support Course (also one of the modules in the wider R/EMO:TE Medic programme).
These two courses together, provided a very solid, accredited and endorsed package covering remote trauma and remote medical considerations, including lectures, theory, skill stations, simulations and scenarios, including out on the hill, in context, whatever the weather.

Our courses are professional level courses, with course alumni going on to operate on every continent, in every environment. Civilian and military.
We don’t believe in marking our own home work - any establishment can write its own course and self accredit. Independent, expert peer review, and challenge by those with highly relevant expertise and experience has a distinct value.
We did just that.
Remote area medics can now access a Royal College endorsed series of training solutions, sitting alongside some of our other offerings.
Endorsement by a Faculty of a Royal College following an expert review process has a value. Endorsement by the Faculty of Pre Hospital Care no less.
This course joins our Prolonged Field Care Course, Ultrasound and Wound Care Courses as courses endorsed by the FPHC RCS (Edin).
Long established, for years, the FPHC has set the standards in our sectors. It’s their documents that are waved round as evidence of good practice.
This was a robust process. Not a request/payment for a CPD letter or a desktop exercise paper endorsement of a concept/list of subjects, but a detailed forensic examination of all materials, references, policies, equipment, attendance through lectures, skill stations, mountain expedition phase/ scenarios and our full course.
Everything was observed, challenged and was required to be evidenced.
Importantly, the assessment was undertaken by those with highly relevant contextual and extensive remote area medical experience in multiple contexts.
Our next R/EMO:TE Medic (Foundation) course is scheduled for 2-6 November 2026.
It is preceded by our Pre Hospital Trauma Life Support Course and is followed by our Wound Care Course.
