Going to cold climates?

We deliver pre deployment training from team members who have experience of preparing teams for and leading expeditions in the arctic circle and also from our ex military SERE (Survive, Escape, Resist, Evade) instructors with significant experience of delivering training in the far north. Training and medical team members have experience of cold climes from arctic Norway, Spitsbergen, Canada, Greenland to the heights of Everest and includes those who have formal (civilian and military) relevant qualifications.

Our courses have 100% civilian emphasis.

We can also deliver training in a number of locations in Norway with assistance from local indigenous people (Sami) with relevant military backgrounds and Search and Rescue professionals.

Training involves audio visual materials, lectures, case studies and practical skills.

Our UK based, bespoke 1-3 day training courses can be organised to cover preparation, clothing, equipment, falling through ice, specialist equipment, lost procedures, communications, electronics, emergency procedures, lighting fires, medical, team training and more. Alternatively, attend our open Polar Serpent Course below, w hick covers key medical and Polar Operational issues.

Field based courses (minimum 7 days) can include all the above and snow shoeing, operating snow mobiles, lectures from explorers, cold water drills, lighting fires, building snow shelters and more.

Specialist planning, risk management and safety training, plus cold weather training, environment specific medical training and more.

One aspect will be cold weather first aid and medical from our team doctor who, in addition to holding the Diploma in Mountain Medicine, has taken part in an expedition to ascend Everest,  expeditioned in Greenland and  led expeditions to Everest base camp.

A variety of photos below from training we have delivered in Norway, Everest expedition and a Greenland field work (long term project rather than expedition).

Our  Polar Serpent Course is a cold weather emphasis medical and risk management course, led by Doctors with significant experience in cold weather. Faculty scheduled to teach the course include a Doctor who has walked, pulling a Pulk, to the South Pole, as a team member of a wider expedition team that walked unsupported to the South Pole, as well as a second Doctor who is an ex British Antarctic Survey Doctor with Antarctic Experience.

The 1 day Polar Serpent course is intended to act as an environment specific day, to complement previous wilderness medical training with us. It is intended that the day covers key medical and risk issues relating to the environment in question.

Delegates will have an opportunity to ask questions from those who have lived, worked and expedition in cold weather and Polar environments.
